Description

Custom molded EPS foam refers to expanded polystyrene foam that is shaped or molded into specific forms or designs according to custom requirements. EPS foam is a lightweight, rigid, and versatile material often used in packaging, insulation, and various other applications.
To create custom molded EPS foam products, the foam is typically heated and then injected into molds where it expands and takes the shape of the mold cavity. This process allows for the creation of precise shapes and sizes tailored to the needs of the customer.
EPS Molded Parts are a high-quality product as long as you have the quantity requirements to justify the initial investment which can be substantial.
The upfront costs with molded Expanded Polystyrene are usually around $25,000 to $50,000, and the minimum order quantities are usually in the volume of at least a half full semi-truckload. And once your die is made, you may not be able to modify it, or at least not without a substantial investment. Plus, lead times can be a factor when a mold must first be made.
EPS Molded Foam Without Tooling Costs?
Insulated Packaging & Foam can give you a product similar to molded foam without the upfront costs, the lead times, the permanently designed mold, and the large quantity requirements.
We can use our Cavacut Technology. This technology allows us to shape and cut cavities out of solid pieces of EPS Foam and Polyethylene Foam giving you a shaped foam made from one solid piece of foam, often at a lower price than using a bunch of layers of foam. The result is a superior packaging product potentially at a lower cost.
Here are examples of pieces using our Cavacut Technology:
