ARCH MOLDING – EPS FOAM

Examples of Arches

One of the challenges with architectural trim is being able to produce curved arches, capitals and bases from molding. Because of their shape and geometry, they cannot be automatically replicated. We have specialized equipment dedicated to this process allowing us to cut contoured shapes and undercuts that no one else can cut.

For example, we got contracted for replicating ceiling medallions in one of the oldest historical plantations in Mississippi. Because of our experienced craftsman and unique methods, we can reproduce the plaster ceiling medallions using foam with hard coat.

Advantages to using EPS Foam Arches:

Lightweight:

EPS foam is extremely lightweight, making it easy to handle and transport. This can be advantageous when constructing large or overhead arches, as it reduces the structural load and simplifies installation.

Ease of Shaping:

EPS foam is highly malleable and can be easily shaped and sculpted using various cutting tools, including hot wire foam cutters and knives. This allows for the creation of intricate and custom arch designs with minimal effort.

Cost-Effectiveness:

EPS foam is an affordable material compared to many other options for constructing arches, such as wood, metal, or stone. Its low cost makes it an attractive choice for projects with budget constraints or where cost efficiency is a priority.

Versatility:

EPS foam is compatible with a wide range of construction methods and finishing techniques, allowing for versatility in design and aesthetic customization. It can be easily painted, coated, or finished to achieve desired textures, colors, and surface effects.

Durability and Weather Resistance:

EPS foam is resistant to moisture, rot, and corrosion, making it suitable for both interior and exterior applications. When properly protected with coatings or sealants, EPS foam arches can withstand exposure to harsh weather conditions, including rain, snow, and UV radiation.

Ease of Installation:

EPS foam arches are lightweight and easy to handle, making them quick and straightforward to install compared to heavier materials like stone or metal. They can often be installed using adhesives or fasteners without the need for specialized equipment or labor-intensive construction methods.

Reduced Structural Requirements:

Because of its lightweight nature, EPS foam arches place minimal stress on supporting structures and foundations. This can result in cost savings and simplification of the overall construction process, particularly in retrofit or renovation projects where existing structures may have limited load-bearing capacity.
