CHANNEL CUTTING – EPS Foam, PE Foam, PU Foam, XLPE Foam

Examples of Channel Cutting

A channel cut in foam refers to cutting a grove or trough in foam. This process involves removing material from the surface of the foam to create a recessed area with specific dimensions and geometry. Channel cuts in foam can be created using various cutting tools and techniques, depending on the desired shape, depth, and precision requirements. We use the following methods for channel cutting in foam include:

CNC Routing:

Computer Numerical Control (CNC) routers equipped with specialized cutting bits can be used to create precise channel cuts in foam materials. CNC routing allows for the automation of cutting operations and offers high accuracy and repeatability.

Hot Wire Cutting:

Hot wire foam cutters use a heated wire to melt through foam material, allowing for the creation of straight or curved channel cuts. Hot wire cutting is particularly suitable for EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) PE foam materials.

Dado Blade Cutting:

Multiple circular saw blades used together to make a thicker cut with the depth being controllable. This is used with all the flexible foams.
